Pine Siskins still here, are yours?

Pine Siskin

We still have Pine Siskins here. We had a lot of Pine Siskins at our feeders this winter. We think some have stayed to breed. They don't usually breed here where we are in southern NH. Do you still have Pine Siskins?

Hi! We are in Nebraska and have had a ton of Pine Siskins all winter and this spring. They are still at the feeders, so I am assuming they are nesting at this point?

We still have Pine Siskins here in Montana. At least "I" do at my feeders. Quite a sassy little bird.

I live in Frederick County, Maryland. We were blessed to host pine siskins from Christmas day (what a great Christmas present) until May 11 (when the last one left our feeders). This year is the first we have had the expensive opportunity to feed these hungry birds.

The last of my pine siskins left in April. I had one sick one the last week of April. But I did have more pine siskins coming to the feeders than American goldfinches in March and April. I was feeding 120-160 pounds of black oil sunflower seed every month as well as 16 to 30 pounds of niger. Kind of glad to see them go.

We live a fair bit further north, but don't usually have Pine Siskins into the springtime. This year they have lingered.Just today we have not seen any,so maybe they are busy nesting.

yes, here in Derry we still have pine siskins too. It surprises me to see them, but they do seem to be staying on. then again, it surprised me to have bluebirds all winter too. happily surprised me I might add. I think all bets are off with the climate and environmental changes that are happening. I think lots of critters will be surprising us for a while.

A number of Pine Siskin reports from our WBU customers here in upstate NY, more in the rural towns or at elevation. Personally (rural and elevation) we still occasionally see a Pine Siskin or 2 mixed in with the goldfinches.
Are there any significant plumage differences in the young to look for?

Finally, the Pine Siskins in the south-western NC mountains have gone, although we do have one remaining pair who apparently decided to nest here.

Several birders have reported nesting pine siskins and chicks in NW Connecticut. I have them occasionally at my feeders.
